C-FER offers in-house training on the following topics
PIPELINE RISK MANAGEMENT
This course contains an introduction to pipeline risk management based on quantitative analysis methods. The course will focus on:
- Hazard and threat identification
- Methods for probability and consequence estimation
- Risk measures and the determination of acceptable risk levels
- Risk control strategies
ADVANCED PIPELINE ANALYSIS WITH PIRAMID
C-FER’s PIRAMID software is one of the most advanced and comprehensive tools for evaluating pipeline risk and developing optimized maintenance plans.
The training program introduces users to the engineering principles used in the software and shows users how PIRAMID can be used in their day-to-day pipeline integrity management activities. Users will also be shown how PIRAMID can be used to prepare information for regulatory compliance audits.
RELIABILITY-BASED DESIGN AND ASSESSMENT FOR NATURAL GAS PIPELINES
The purpose of the course is to familiarize participants with the basic principles of Reliability Based Design and Assessment (RBDA). Where applicable, the course can also include how RBDA can be implemented according to Annex O of CSA Z662.
Attendees will learn about the basic concepts of limit states and RBDA, how to set reliability targets, and how to use the methodology in making design and maintenance decisions. They will learn a step by step process to apply RBDA in conformance with the requirements of Annex O. Individuals interested in the use of reliability based concepts to make design, operation and maintenance decisions will benefit from this course.
INTRODUCTION TO RISK ANALYSIS OF ENGINEERING SYSTEMS
Risk analysis is a powerful tool for making decisions that achieve optimal balance between safety and economy. This two-day course, which has been offered more than a dozen times and attended by more than 300 engineers in Alberta alone, will familiarize you with the concepts and methods of risk analysis and their use in making better engineering decisions. The hands-on format of the course emphasizes application and utilization of different risk analysis methods. This course is highly beneficial to all engineers and managers who make design or operational decisions.
