Lowell McAllister is a Researcher in C-FER’s Pipeline Integrity & Operations department.

His expertise includes fracture mechanics, quantitative risk assessment, pipeline integrity, and data analytics. He has extensive experience applying quantitative risk assessment and machine learning techniques to gas and liquid transmission pipelines. Lowell also brings experience in developing software tools for implementing fitness-for-service assessments of crack-like flaws.

He has been involved in several research projects related to the use of pipelines and pressure vessels for hydrogen applications. He has presented on the topic at the Canadian Hydrogen Convention Technical Courses (2022 and 2023) as well as at the International Pipeline Risk Management Forum (2023).

Lowell holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Co-op with a Mathematics Minor from the University of Alberta.

When Lowell isn’t at work, he enjoys spending time with his two young children (and annoying his wife with an unseemly quantity of puns and “dad jokes”).
