Jarek Nowinka

With 30 years of experience in the energy industry, Dr. Jarek Nowinka is a Principal Engineer at C-FER Technologies. He is mechanical engineer with expertise in well tubulars and materials.

Current Focus

In addition to his experience with well tubulars and materials, Jarek is currently focused on the energy transition from hydrocarbons to renewable resources and has been engaged in a global review of underground hydrogen storage in geological formations, including salt caverns, aquifers, and depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs. His prior experience was focused on well integrity and equipment evaluation for extreme service wells, including thermal recovery, hydraulic fracturing, high pressure and high temperature, and geothermal wells.

Jarek also represents Canada in the ISO Technical Committee 67, which coordinates international standards for petroleum and low-carbon energy applications. He is the primary author of ISO 12835 on qualification of casing connections for thermal wells.

Education

Jarek completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Calgary (1990) subsequent to obtaining his MSc and BSc at the Technical University of Poznan in Poland. He is registered as Professional Engineer with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
