Darren Worth

Darren Worth is a Senior Research Engineer at C-FER Technologies. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB, Canada. He has extensive experience with C-FER Technologies, where he has conducted numerous assessments of artificial lift systems for various applications globally, including cold heavy oil, liquids-rich shale, and thermal operations. Darren has also been deeply involved in the ESP Reliability Information and Failure Tracking System JIP, focusing on data collection, processing, and analysis. Additionally, he has served as an instructor for PC-PUMP Software and PCP Design/Optimization courses.

Darren has made significant contributions to the field through his publications. His works include “Underground Gas Storage Integrity – Quantitative Risk Assessment Methodology,” co-authored with Middleton in 2023, and “Electrical Submersible Pump Condition Monitoring and Failure Prediction System,” co-authored with Swaffield and Ngandu in 2022. Other notable reports include “Inland Spill Response – Joint Industry Program” in 2017, “Development of a Risk-Based Thermal Well Integrity Tool” in 2016, and “SAGD Downhole Flow Control – Joint Industry Project” in 2016. He has also explored innovative techniques such as radio frequency heating for heavy oil, as evidenced in his 2014 report.

Darren’s expertise extends to artificial lift and well architecture for hydraulically fractured shale condensate and development strategies for offshore heavy oil. His work has been recognized at international conferences, including a presentation on artificial lift methods for a heavy oil field in Kuwait at the SPE International Heavy Oil Conference and Exhibition in 2014. His early work, such as the 2009 report on well piloting of CHOPS production in Alaska, underscores his long-standing contribution to the industry.
