Phase 28 Launches in May 2026

Phase 28 of ESP-RIFTS will run from May 2026 to April 2027.

In March, C-FER will collect feedback from ESP-RIFTS Participants on what technical research topics they would like investigated in Phase 28. This input will be used to develop the Phase 28 work scope. If you have a specific technical topic you would like pursued within a collaborative JIP environment, please contact C-FER to learn more about joining ESP-RIFTS.

February 2026 Unconventionals Workshop and Open House

On February 11th, unconventional ESP operators met in Denver, Colorado for an ESP‑RIFTS Workshop. This full‑day session featured operator presentations and roundtable discussions focused on recent ESP failure mechanisms, ongoing reliability improvement initiatives, field trials, and production optimization strategies. C‑FER also presented the latest Unconventionals ESP Run‑Life Benchmarking Report, and Participants discussed how changes in technology and operational practices are influencing their reliability.

The workshop also included an open house over lunch, where interested companies were invited to network and discuss topics of interest in a round table format.

May Technical Workshop

C-FER has begun planning for the next Technical Workshop, scheduled for May 28-29 in Houston, Texas. Potential topics of interest include:

  • Permanent Magnet Motors
  • Condition Monitoring
  • ESP Troubleshooting

Technology Report

In February, C-FER released the latest edition of the ESP Technology Report, which summarizes the technologies that Participants currently use or have trialled in the past.
