Geohazard Strain Demand Model for Pipelines

Predicting Pipeline Strain at geohazard Sites

Track and forecast bending strain in buried pipelines using historical inertial measurement unit (IMU) inspection data.

C-FER develops custom models that help operators understand how deformations evolve over time at geohazard-prone locations.

How It Works

Analyzes repeat IMU inspections

Applies weighted linear regression to prioritize recent data

Offers three regression methods:

  • Age-weighted using all inspections
  • Last two inspections
  • Last three inspections

Users can input strain measurements from different time points and receive a predicted strain demand distribution for a future date—supporting proactive pipeline integrity management.
