Transportation of Pressurized Hydrogen

C-FER is assisting GEV Canada to assess the feasibility of constructing a ship capable of transporting up to 2000 tonnes of pressurized hydrogen. Each ship will include two specially constructed, laminated pressure vessels that will transport the hydrogen at 250 bar.

The project includes assisting GEV in developing the manufacturing procedures for these pressure vessels.

Future phases of work are expected to build reduced-scale prototype pressure vessels that will be subjected to rigorous testing to demonstrate the hydrogen resistance and structural performance of the pressure vessel design concept.

Shipping Certification of Compressed Natural Gas Carrier

C-FER also assisted GEV in previous work in securing American Bureau of Shipping certification for their compressed natural gas carrier. This work saw the construction of a full-scale replica of the pressure tubes enclosed in ship bulkheads.
