ESP Bend helps companies investigate the effects of wellbore curvature on ESP equipment deflection and reliability. ESP Bend allows users to perform detailed engineering stress and curvature analysis of complex wellbore trajectories and ESP assemblies.
Companies can then combine engineering analysis results with their own historical failure data to estimate the long-term economic implications of wellbore curvature in their ESP-lifted wells.
3D Solver
ESP Bend calculates the deflected shape and stresses experienced by an ESP assembly in a deviated well by considering:
- Wellbore trajectory data
- Casing ID
- Tubing stiffness, weight and dimensions
- ESP component stiffness, weight and dimensions
ESP Bend can consider 3D wellbore trajectories which vary along the length of the ESP assembly. The solver can handle wellbore surveys with closely-spaced wellbore survey measurements such as gyro surveys.
Wellbore Visualization
ESPBend converts wellbore survey data into a three-dimensional plot of the wellbore trajectory, allowing users to quickly identify regions of high wellbore dogleg severity to help avoid damage during installation and guide pump landing depth decisions.
Detailed Analysis Results
ESP Bend helps users to identify high-risk regions of the ESP assembly by plotting detailed analysis results along the length of the assembly including:
- Component Curvature
- Housing Stress
- Shear Force
- Bending Moment
Users can then fine-tune the design to mitigate against excessive bending.
Component Reliability Assessments
ESP Bend helps users to assess the effects of wellbore trajectory on ESP reliability. The software can estimate the reliability of ESP components in a given design scenario by incorporating field-specific empirical correlations obtained from the detailed analysis of historical failure data.
With this information, users can then estimate the long-term economic implications of alternative ESP designs and landing intervals.
