What’s new in ESP-RIFTS – June 2026

May 2026 Technical Workshop

On May 28th and 29th, ESP-RIFTS operators gathered in Houston, Texas and virtually for an ESP-RIFTS Workshop. This two-day workshop focused on operator presentations and roundtable discussions on various topics, including new technology trials, failure trends, permanent magnet motors, cable reliability, and ESP troubleshooting.

Phase 28 Planning

In June, C-FER will meet with ESP-RIFTS operators to finalize detailed work scopes for activities in Phase 28, including

  • Technical workshops for industry-wide, unconventional and offshore focus
  • Benchmarking activities through Power BI dashboards
  • Technical studies, including topics such as condition monitoring, cable reliability and reuse, and ESP data tracking and analysis practices

If your organization is interested in any of these topics, or in participating in a collaborative, multi operator forum, please contact C-FER.

Cable Electrical Testing

In June, C-FER conducted interviews with subject matter experts in cable electrical testing, gathering information on the following methods:

  • Tan Delta
  • Partial Discharge
  • Frequency Domain Reflectometry

Details from these discussions will be incorporated into the ESP-RIFTS Cable Reliability and Reuse Knowledge Repository and presented at the May Technical Workshop.

ESP-RIFTS Database

In May, C-FER received and processed new data submissions from two ESP-RIFTS Participants, containing reliability data from conventional and offshore operations.

The data is now available for analysis on the ESP-RIFTS website and the Power BI benchmarking dashboard. The data will also be included in the biannual ESP-RIFTS Industry Benchmarking Report, scheduled for release in early June.
