Ultra-Deepwater Pipeline Testing—February 2002 A full-scale collapse test program to test the design of a pipeline system planned for the deep waters off the coast of Louisiana has recently been completed at C-FER Technologies.
The test program was primarily aimed at measuring, quantifying, and documenting the collapse behaviour of large diameter pipe under combined external pressure and bending. The results of testing validated the deepwater pipeline design and also demonstrated that collapse resistance is increased as a result of the mild heat treatment (thermal aging) from the pipe coating process. C-FER has developed a niche, servicing the international market for ultra-deepwater pipeline testing and recently delivered on testing contracts in Russia and the Middle East. "On behalf of BP and INTEC, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank the C-FER team on the completion of a very demanding and successful 12-month test program. They have performed the program in a professional, scientific and safety-conscious manner, and have at all times been very cooperative and willing to help."
