Oman-India Gas Pipeline Collapse Tests—1995
The proposed pipeline route was to extend 1100 kilometers (700 miles) at depths of up to 3500 meters (11,500 feet)—four times deeper than any existing pipeline. At this depth, the line would have to withstand a hydrostatic pressure of 35 MPa (5,000 psi). The test program included pipe collapse, pipe collapse with bending, and buckle arrestor performance tests. A series of 22 full-scale tests were conducted on pipe specimens measuring 26 inches in diameter with a wall thickness of 1.625 inches. Contact:Chris Timms, Manager, Design and Construction |
