Life@C-FERProfessional Development:C-FER recognizes the importance of professional development and we encourage continuing education for our employees. Each Department Manager plans and monitors developmental work assignments and encourages ongoing education within the department. C-FER supports employees in their pursuit of academic programs which will improve performance in their present position and increases potential for other assignments within the organization. Studies can include job-related university degrees, extension programs and office, trade and technical school studies. Full-time employees who successfully complete an approved course of studies will be reimbursed for any fees for registration, tuition and examination. Social Committee:At C-FER, we not only work hard but we play hard too. We have a very active social committee that organizes various events throughout the year. Events include our annual golf tournament, chili cook-off contest, ugly shirt day, birthday donut day each month, indoor mini golf and more. Health & Wellness:The health and wellness of our employees is very important at C-FER. In October 2006, C-FER participated as one of four companies operating as a demonstration site promoting health, wellness and fitness in the workplace. Active Edmonton's Active Workplace Year initiative left a lasting impression on everyone at C-FER Technologies. Basketballs, soccer balls, frisbees and a bocce ball game are now conveniently stored in an activity cabinet close to the staff entrance. A resource centre featuring monthly health and wellness publications has been set up in the C-FER library. Funds from the Active Edmonton grant were matched with corporate funds and used to purchase new training equipment for setting up a fitness facility in a converted meeting room. C-FER staff has never had so many options when taking a break. C-FER's Health & Wellness Committee supports employees in obtaining an active and healthy lifestyle by providing information on balanced lifestyle and organizing various health-related events throughout the year. The committee also organizes our participation in Edmonton's Corporate Challenge event, a Mini-Olympics style competitions between local companies that happen once a year. They have also set up a Leisure Library where employees donate books, movies and CD's which can be used by everyone at C-FER. Each year, any unused materials are donated to local charities. Stress Management Seminars:Once a month, C-FER hosts a Stress Management Seminars which happen on a Friday afternoon. This is a social activity where snacks and refreshments are provided. Employees are encouraged to take a time out from their hard work to socialize with each other. Community Involvement:Supporting our community is an important part of the C-FER culture. We strongly support the United Way and each year we hold a fund raising campaign. Throughout the year, we have several fund raisers to support the Adopt-A-Teen program, hold competitions to collect food for the Edmonton Food Bank and other various charity activities throughout the year. For the first time this year, a team from C-FER spent a day helping out Habitat for Humanity. |
