Strength and Stability Testing of Stiffened Plate Components

This project was an experimental and analytical study of hull girder bending strength and local flexural torsional buckling (tripping) of stiffened plate components representative of those used in ship structures. The work included the experimental testing of twelve full-scale plate specimens in a specially constructed test frame capable of applying both in-plane and lateral loads while maintaining accurate boundary conditions. The work also included non-linear finite element analyses of various test specimens.
