PIRAMID™—Pipeline Integrity Maintenance

Status: Ongoing, members renew annually - Pipeline operating risk is a function of both the probability of line failure and the associated consequences. This JIP has been designed to address these aspects via a series of interrelated sub-projects.

The JIP has developed a framework and methodology for risk-based optimization of maintenance activities and a model for probabilistic decision analysis. These models have been incorporated into PIRAMID™, a user-friendly PC-based computer program for performing risk assessment, system prioritization and maintenance optimization.

These models have been developed both for onshore and offshore pipelines, and are based on detailed calculations of release consequences and probabilities of failure due to different causes.
