Benefits

Employee health and wellness is important to us at C-FER Technologies. Our comprehensive benefits package is available to eligible employees and their families on the first day of employment. All full-time employees and part-time employees who work at least 25 hour per week are eligible for benefits.

Benefits include:

Healthcare:

Basic healthcare includes reimbursement at 100% for prescription drugs (dispensing fee limits apply), private room coverage for hospital care, global medical assistance, paramedical expenses at a maximum of $500 each calendar year and visioncare. There is no deductible for basic healthcare services.

Basic employee and dependent life insurance, optional life insurance, employee accidental death, dismemeberment and specific loss, short term and long term disability are covered in this plan. Employees are responsible for the costs of long term disability coverage.

Employee & Family Assistance Program:

C-FER provides an Employee and Family Assistance program to their employees and eligible family members which can help with many concerns or problems.  This free, confidential service is provided by professionally accredited counsellors with various areas of expertise, located away from the worksite.

Healthcare Spending Account:

Healthcare Spending Accounts are individual employee accounts that provide non-taxable reimbursement for eligible health expenses in a calendar year. The amount of funding for the account is determined on a yearly basis as part of C-FER's yearly benefit planning and is communicated to employees in December.

Eligible expenses under the plan include:

  • The portion of health and dental expenses not covered by the basic plan, a spouse's plan or provincial plans.
  • Medical expenses deemed eligible by Canada Revenue Agency

Dental Coverage:

Benefits include 80% coverage for basic services and 50% for major and major extensive services to a maximum of $2,500.00 per calendar year per person under the plan. Coverage also includes 50% orthodontic services to a lifetime maximum of $2,500.00 per person. There is no deductible for dental coverage.

Pension Plan:

C-FER provides its employees with a pension plan administered by London Life Group Retirement Services and will commence on the day of employment.

The plan is a "defined contribution" plan, and it is mandatory for all employees to participate. The employee contributions are matched by the company. For the first year the employee must contribute 3% of monthly earnings to the pension fund; after the first anniversary the employee has the option of contributing 4%; after the third anniversary 5%; and after the fifth anniversary 6%.

The employee chooses where they would like to invest both the employee portion and the employer portion from an approved list of funds. Vesting and locking in of the employer contributions is 0% for less than two years of service and 100% for more than two years of service.

Optional contributions can also be deducted from employee's pay.

Fitness Subsidy:

C-FER also subsidizes regular full-time and regular part-time employees who participate in fitness-related activities and programs for the purpose of general fitness and physical wellness. C-FER is also a member of the City of Edmonton Corporate Wellness Program which entitles all C-FER employees to discounts at City of Edmonton fitness facilities.

Permanent employees are entitled to the following yearly vacation:
